LSRLA Wednesday Wellness Breakfast

On Wednesday, 15 September 2021 the Logan and Scenic Rim Law Association Inc (LSRLA) hosted their second Wednesday Wellness Breakfast. Created in 2021 by the committee as an event for members as a mid-week mingle, this breakfast was no different and filled with great company, food and laughs.

Here at the LSRLA, we strongly support health and wellness within the legal community. The Wellness Wednesday Breakfast gives local professionals the opportunity to connect with others and take a breather from the hustle and bustle of everyday working life. A debrief over a coffee helps keep us going during these busy and trying times.

There was a fantastic turnout of wonderful legal professionals from the local community for the event. Everyone was in high spirits and the breakfast table was packed with interesting and thought-provoking conversation.

We were grateful and honoured to have Beenleigh District Court judge, the Honourable Justice Craig Chowdhury, in attendance at the Wellness Wednesday Breakfast. Justice Chowdhury kindly offered his insight into practicing law within our local district, and we learnt about the vast geography covered by the district!

There was something for everyone at the Wellness Wednesday Breakfast. We even had our own custom-decorated cookies with our logo on them!

We are excited and looking forward to our next Wellness Wednesday Breakfast on 11 May 2022. We would love to see you and your colleagues there! RSVP here: https://lsrla.org.au/rsvp/

Modern Marketing Tips for Lawyers

Join us for our next event on Modern Marketing Tips for Lawyers.

In the disrupted and fast evolving world of legal practice, marketing for law firms is not what it used to be.  To be visible to our public, we need to be delivering our firm message to prospective clients via a range of different means and opportunities.

This event is designed to breakdown some of the more common methods of delivering this message in today’s modern age and will touch on the following:

  • To Facebook or not to Facebook
  • LinkedIn and professional profiling
  • Social media posting; frequency and content
  • Website content and online engagement tools
  • Blogging and article writing
  • Getting involved – networking and events

Our presenter is our very own Founding President, Michele Davis.  Michele is a self-confessed succession nerd who has always been a very active participant in the new world of online engagement, networking and relationship building.  Michele has worked within varying legal environments, including mid-tier law firms to micro-law firms in both CBD and non-CBD firms, and each time was heavily involved in marketing for the firm and her practice group.  Michele is the founder of the very successful Australian Succession & Elder Lawyers LinkedIn Group which now boasts over 1,500 members across the country and is a legal blogger with her own blog at www.micheledavis.com.au.  Michele is also a regular speaker having presented for various conference producers, including Queensland Law Society, Legalwise, Television Education Network and The Tax Institute and also writes, on an ad hoc basis, for CCH Thomson Rueters and Legalwise publications.

The Logan & Scenic Rim Law Association Inc is proud to offer this event to members for FREE.  If you’re not a member yet, please head over to our membership page and make your application today.  If you’re not a member but still want to come along, please contact us directly by email hello@lsrla.org.au.

EVENT: Ethics of Social Media for Law Firms – 21 February 2019

The Logan & Scenic Rim Law Association is proud to present a very worthwhile topic for the law firms of today; Ethics of Social Media for Law Firms.

This is a FREE event for our members.

We are pleased to have Les Power, legal practice director and head of litigation and dispute resolution at Wilson Lawyers, present for us on this topic. Les is a sought after presenter on ethics, property and commercial law, and professional responsibility topics for a range of conference producers, including Queensland Law Society and Legalwise.  Les has more than 20 years in private practice and is an accredited specialist in commercial litigation.  Having spent his early career as an articled clerk in Charters Towers and spending many more of his more recent years in the inner suburbs of Brisbane, Les has a unique understanding of the challenges of practice facing practitioners in both regions and the CBD. Known by his peers as their go-to ethics man, Les is a senior practitioner who prides himself in supporting and advocating for an ethical and well-regarded profession.

The practice and business of law is a different place than it was 10 years ago, and 20 years before that. We are all marketing ourselves differently and through a platform that can be both exciting and treacherous. Come along to our Ethics event to learn more about how you can be engaging with social media platforms in the best way for your practice. This is also a great opportunity to network with your local legal community.
